Finally...
Phew..now I finally have the time to update my blog. Haha..sorry for the long hiatus. Finally got the pics I have been waiting for.
2nd December 2008
At 12.30 on this fateful day,Spm is finally over!!! I set down my pen and paper and waited for the examiner to collect my last exam paper with a huge grin on my face. Finally.. after toiling for so many years I have completed high school.
Celebrated by going to that newly opened Grand Paragon Hotel just by Omega (our former tuition centre) with Eva, Jasmynn, Serene and Erika. Had a buffet lunch. Cost us RM35++ which came up to RM40.75 per person. Didn't think it was worth it. I never got to eat RM40.75 worth of food. LOL.
There was fried bee hoon, laksa, chicken rice, chicken, egg tofu, rice, cakes, a chocolate fountain for us to coat strawberries and jambu with chocolate, jelly and some other stuff I didn't care to try. The kind of food you can find anywhere. The hotel's kinda nice though. Haha..
My chocolate coated strawberry. Yumm...
with sago pudding and coconut milk and gula Melaka.
Brownie cake thingy.
So, after that, we went to Plaza Pelangi just across the road. Found out Jasmynn likes to watch WWE too. What violent girls we are.
With our stomachs full and filled, we headed of to the arcade to 'exercise'. Kononnya.
Erika and Serene battling it out on touch hockey. Ganasnya!
After that, took a taxi that cost us RM5 to Leisure Mall. Had to split into 2 taxis because the taxi wouldn't take 6 even though where we wanted to go wasn't that far away. What law-abiding taxi drivers. We're so glad to have you around O.O
Eva booked tix for Twilight the day before. But she didn't need to actually. Not many people come on weekdays and to Leisure Mall. Most would prefer City Square instead. Anyway, we arrived too early and as usual, killed time at the arcade waiting for the movie to start since there was too little time to start a bowling game. I finally bought my Ruroni Kenshin Soundtrack =D Muahahaha...Serene, you know how I feel. Heh.
Our favourite Daytona racing game.
Twilight rocked. Rubber pits says I'm a typical girl. Haha..maybe it's coz almost every girl's smitten with Robert Pattinson and his portrayal of Edward Cullen, the lead actor in the movie.
3rd December 2008That was the day Eva, Serene, Erika, Jasmynn, Adeline, Joyce and me went to Singapore. My first trip alone with friends. Hehe..
We planned to start our journey across the muddy and polluted Selat Tebrau at 9am. So I was up by 7.30 getting ready. Partly, I couldn't sleep because I was excited and it was my first day without having to study or go to school.
Adeline and Erika arrived at my place at 8.30 and Jasmynn and Joyce came at 8.50 to pick us up.
Arrived at the bus terminal at customs at 9. Waited for Serene and Eva to arrive then boarded the bus.
We were greeted with a long queue at Customs where they check your passports and stuff. Loads of Japanese students a.k.a. tourists were there. We separated into 2 queues. Me, Eva, Erika and Adeline in one queue while Jasmynn, Serene, and Joyce were at the other queue. We started with saying the word BOMB out loud. But not so loud. It's a sensitive word there. We think.
We waited, and waited....and waited. We had to wait for so long because the Japs had visas and stuff to check. Eva said they didn't go straight to Changi Airport instead of entering via Malaysia was because Senai airport was cheaper. Lol. Finally, it was our turn. Adeline and me started with that song Finally by Fergie. That was our song of the day. Haha..
By the time we finished, the other 3 musketeers were still far behind. We were laughing at them for picking the wrong queue. Had our bags and self scanned. Maybe we would bring bombs into Singapore. Who knows?
Worst thing was we had to wait super duper long for the other 3 to get their passports stamped. Altogether, we spent about 2 hours at customs. Half a day wasted. Our legs were already aching even though our day hasn't quite started yet. Serene was smart enough to switch queue and by the time she got out, we still had to wait for Jasmynn and Joyce. That's how slow their queue was. The customs officer took so friggin long to check a person's passport.
Anyway, then we had to wait for the bus. Another 15 minutes of waiting.
We're tired of waiting!!!!
Then, boarded the bus to Kranji MRT station to get to Jurong East.
View from the MRT station. Makes you wonder how this 'clean and green' sight is a rarity in Malaysia.
By the time we got to Jurong East, we were famished. Went around the Science Centre to scout for food. We were desperate hungry people. Settled for a Tolido Set which had 2 Chipolatas (smaller version of sausages), a sunny side-up egg, a bacon, baked beans and toast washed down with a cup of tea. Yumm..
Whoops! Only remembered to take a pic of food after I gobbled it down. Heh
Erika and Eva finished eating first so they went to ask about the tix price to get into the Science Centre. Ended up getting a package of spending 2 hours at the Science Centre and an hour at Snow City (the main destination) for only $16.
Not gonna elaborate much on what we did at the Science Centre. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
The gigantic moving T-Rex with sound effects that greeted us at the entrance.
Tickets please..
Some water park for the little kids to play.
From this landscape of mountains and waves, can you spot a person's face? of course you can.
There it is.
Upside-down..
and down-side up!
The door is opening as you move left to right.
So's the running cheetah.
Can you spot 4 people?
The pianist
The violinist.
When you point to one ball thingy, all you fingers point back at you!
My beheaded head! How can I be blogging???
Adeline was peacefully beheaded.
Erika and Jasmynn were happily beheaded. Look at Jasmynn posing!
Distorted demos.
1st, a normal looking face.
2nd, she still looks normal upside-down.
3rd, a totally distorted face.
Next, perspectives can deceive. Observe the big guy grow smaller.
Swirly stuff that's supposed to resemble galaxies..i think.
Can you see the ring of smoke? Adeline and I did it. heh.
Something called Jacob's Ladder if I remember correctly. Electricity moving up the 2 wires.
Cartesian diver based on Archimedes Principle. SERENE!!!
A swirling tornado in a tank!
Stuff at the marine life section:
Sea greens
Hello my little Nemo!
The starfish's butt.
Open wide!! Unagi! Siapa mau??
Saw little fishes in the tank with eels. All crowded and swimming at the surface. Too scared to go down lest they be eaten..Poor little fishies.
Crabbie patties!!!
No idea what the strawberries are doing here.
The first part of the genome section was a little boring. Ended up taking a pic instead. There were so many mirrors.
The deadly Aedes mosquito.
And Anopheles mosquito.
Me and Adeline with the pair of 3-D glasses we had to put on to watch some show. Aiya! I din take out my other pair of glasses. lol
Adeline looks more convincing as the 'macho' man..*Ahem* Erika!!!
No idea what this is...
Inside the nose...
While waiting for the time to start our Snow City adventure, decided to go for a ride at the IMAX theatre.
It costs $4 for a headache and to see fake dinos.
Had a cold blast in Snow City! Small place but we had fun. Sliding down the slope on our trusty toilet bowl seats a.k.a. butt rest. Kidding. They were floats and looked like toilet seats. the butt side of our pants were wet form snow as a result. It was -5 degrees in there! Had snow spattered all over our faces as we were sliding down the slope. Had on a coat that made me look inflated. Gloves were of not much use. Hands were freezing like popsicles anyway. So were our legs. We only had on jeans.
Don't have much pics. We weren't allowed to bring in cams. Profit-making people they are. Had loads of photos to choose from. Probably because we had the photographer following us to take a pic for us wherever we went. I think we had the most pics taken. Heh.. Spent $10 on this photo.
By the time we finished, it was about 5pm. Decided to go to Orchard Road to see the Christmas lights and decos. It's always the main attraction this time of the year.
After much oohs and ahhs at seeing the Christmasy lights, hopped on a train to Bugis where had dinner. We were already wayy behind schedule to get home.
Had dinner at Pastamania. Finally got to try the spaghetti there after so, so long. It was delicious!
So, we waited for the bus to get back home. It was a long queue. You should have seen the queue. Lucky for us, 2 buses came and we managed to make it back half an hour from the actual estimated time.
Brought home J CO doughnuts and a snowman=)
Howdy!
Even though we spent half the day travelling in cramped MRTs and waiting in long queues instead of enjoying as we were supposed to, I learned that,
I have to:
1. Get comfortable walking shoes as we tend to travel long distances in Singapore even with
efficient and CLEAN public transport because you don't always get seats on the MRTs no
matter how long they are.
2. Get into a queue where the customs officer is not an elderly person.
3. Watch where you're walking so you don't ACCIDENTALLY step on stuck-up people's shoes or bump into them because you don't want them glaring at you as if you committed a huge offense even though you apologize profusely. Not like back home where you apologize and the other person just smiles and says never mind and we both walk our separate ways.
4. Tell the stupid person behind you that you DID NOT cut their queue because you stood there first, instead of sitting down on a chair away from the queue and expect your place to be there for you when you get back. Snobs.
5. I can't believe that I'm going to .......!!!!
End.
